Looking at anywhere between 20 years and Life, he got 30 years.misery guts wrote:He got found really quite guilty.misery guts wrote:R Kelly recently had further allegations made against him. Meanwhile, his court case is impending, as the jury is being selected. He was charged 2 years ago.
A linguist, a psychologist, a body language expert and a biographer told the rather grim story of the R&B legend, how he might have come to be the way he turned out to be, why nobody questioned lyrical admissions, and how badly he presented himself in interviews that raised more alarms than they quashed.

rolfharris
Disgraced Australian painter turned entertainer and occasional pop star, Rolf Harris died at 93. He was found guilty of several charges, served a jail sentence, and lived out a quiet solitude, never apologising.

UK rapper slowthai, aka Tyron Frampton, has been in court on a rape charge, which he denies, though he has been dropped from the line-up for the forthcoming Glastonbury festival.
Also UK Afrobeat star Fuse ODG, aka Nana Abiona, has been talking about being stopped & searched in February as a result of racial profiling.

Scottish rock group The View made the news lately when members had a bit of a ruck during a gig, though they later excused it as blown out of proportion.

How a Scottish band made it big, but had troubles with the big time. Kyle and his wife Laura told their tale of romance, as she is also a writer and had penned a new show partly inspired by their difficulties. However this coincided with his band's comeback, and the above ruck meant Kyle was banned from attending his wife's show. Their new album did make #6 in the UK chart.

Raising the average age for this thread, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler faces a second allegation of inappropriate behaviour from his 1970s era:

Diddy aka Sean Combs, has now faced accusations from a former partner, Cassie, whose decade-long relationship seems to have been witness to some pretty poor behaviour (she says).

The Trouble With (Kan)Ye
Mobeen Azhar, after previous progs on R Kelly and Johnny Kitigawa, turns his attention to the outspoken R&B legend who may be running for the US Presidency next year, may be suddenly full of unwise anti-semitic rants, or may just be not taking his medicines properly (a somewhat generous option from Mobeen there). He manages to talk to Ye in the end, on a phone, but Ye doesn't seem to talk back. Mobeen does briefly speak to his celeb pal Nick Fuentes though, which is probably better than he could have expected to.
Gary Glitter - A Faking It Special
In the early 1970s, he was a UK chart-topper. However, in 1997 he made a fateful trip to get his computer repaired, and the truth rapidly followed. This show got its usual team to look at footage of interviews, before and after his exposure, to assess the truth of matters (including an appearance with fellow paedophile Jimmy Savile, and an interview where Paula Yates pointedly suggesting he might "entertain young fans"). Writer Lesley-Ann Jones, often a contributor to Queen docs, is included here as she had a close call with Glitter - or rather her younger sister did. A grim story.

Faking It - Jimmy Savile
DJ, broadcaster, monster - his tally of victims ran into the hundreds, and at times, his celebrity pals seemed also to run into huge figures too (such as the current King). An interview from the 1990s with Andrew Neil provided a lot of material of watching him swerve investigation, and dismiss any threats. As was said, he held back his victims because a jury would believe him and not them. Sadly all too true.
Louis Theroux Interviews - Pete Doherty
The mercurial frontman of the Libertines and Babyshambles, he has also had more than 15 criminal convictions for various infractions. He was living in Northern France with a wife and small child, and had been clean for a year or two. He was also back with the Libertines, despite past ructions. He seemed a lot healthier and happier than before, if rueful about some past mistakes.

Rapper Ja Rule was due to continue his tour in the UK, but was barred entry based on past criminal matters.
A 2-part look into the rise and fall of said entertainer, friends who found his personal attitudes a bit much, victims who were cowed from retaliation, how he eventually was brought down, and how some cases against him were thrown out. All in all, a rather grim look at the hidden side of fame.
A lengthy effort, mostly culled from home movies, with Pete relating his story, his upbringing, his relationship to Carl, how drugs got a hold on him, and how hard it was to shake them off. He seemed to be prolific, and he remains a critic's favourite.

Diddy time again, with CCTV footage revealed/leaked to show him hitting someone, for which he rather sharply apologised. However, Cassie has further commented on how low her opinion of him is.misery guts wrote:This story returned to attention last week, when police raided a property of his, in a search for evidence, whilst Diddy was planning a holiday break with his children.misery guts wrote:However, perhaps the attention inspired others, as he's now been accused by others instead.misery guts wrote:They settled this after 1 daymisery guts wrote:Diddy aka Sean Combs, has now faced accusations from a former partner, Cassie, whose decade-long relationship seems to have been witness to some pretty poor behaviour (she says).
Elsewhere, one-hit wonder Sean Kingston has been arrested, after an investigation led to a home of his being raided, in connection with a case involving non-payment, and in which his mother was also arrested.

Hoping I get this right the first time. I've been following ABL for a few good years now. Can you view in the UK?

Yeah, I can see it. I'm not sure why it's that surprising, I doubt he's still living off the "Beautiful Girls" money since that was, what, 2009? Glitter - The Popstar Paedophile
Another look at much the same story. Journalists, reporters, lawyers, victims campaigners, and even audio from a couple of the victims. I should mention Iain Lee, a presenter whose own past experience was something I hadn't heard before (and which informs his current work as a counsellor).
The question with Glitter is why he remained a regular fixture on telly, when his hits largely dried up after 1975. The first trial on his abuse is shamefully directed by a judge, and takes place hours before he confesses to possession charges. It still takes years before his main abuse is brought back to trial and conviction. Could it happen again? One would hope not.
