Congrats! Charting in US was a bitch in the 60's and working them now. I've found every chart dating back to 1944, so look out hah! Seriously, I've burned them and will add them to the mix once 1979 in done. I'd then like to start go back over the 80's and make some minor changes as I have a routine thing going on now.
Had to DJ last night at a dance club and swiped the latest UK chart as well some from 2009. Shoulda seen the floor!

Re: 60's or 00+
The only change I think I've thought of wanting to make as I've gone along was some kind of recognition for records at #2. I know it's the start of a slippery slope, but when a record spends more than a month at #2 because a bigger record just won't shift off the top, then some sort of acknowledgement would be cool. But I'm not going back through 900-odd charts for the sake of it!

Re: 60's or 00+
I find it funny with the early 60s stuff, to see acts facing the perennial problem of "50 different ways to say 'I love you'"
Since I started doing the 60's stuff in the mornings, I've felt at least that it's flowing along.
Should be finishing 1999 in the next few days, which will be a small achievement, and then 1994 some time before Christmas. Since I changed to doing the 94 & 95 ones from my old diary, it's had a different feel to it, for me. Also rather stark to read what I was doing, and feeling, at the time
and where I should have done things differently.

You've really been putting the hammer down this month, man. You'll likely finish the 1960's before Christmas!
Really impressive workrate.

Though you mean well, if I had a life I'd likely still be charting the 80's hah. Thank you. 60's nearly done! I noticed you posted a few '69 charts (awesome!), but you gotta tell me this. Do consider that daylight savings time confuses me and I can never remember my own phone #. How in the world do you post charts without confusing dates? Surely, it must take some work to know exactly what spot to post in.
We get out charts on Thursdays while you tend to get yours on Sunday. You've got leap years and all sorts of madness. Wow at how you keep up that way. It's what prevents me from doing the 60's and 70's at the same time.

I only added those '69 ones because I did them over at DWW in Memory Lane Music a while back. Same format, just a question of C&P. There'll be the odd one from '77 & '79 also which I'll paste across before I ever get there with the normal run of things.I noticed you posted a few '69 charts (awesome!), but you gotta tell me this. Well, I've got bookmarks that help. Also, doing the more recent charts from diaries is a whole lot more agreeable. That's why I don't do one after another from the same year. I've taken to doing the 60's ones in the morning, which means I'll get 6 done a week. When I've finished the later ones, I'll go back to doing more from the earliers. When I finish '94 (tomorrow, I hope), then I might do 2001, or try something else.Wow at how you keep up that way. It's what prevents me from doing the 60's and 70's at the same time.
Don't start me on the science of Leap Years

Re: 60's or 00+
Well, after a needed few days off, I've just added the final chart of 2010 and the HOT 100 of the year. Took me a little time to realize that a decade is now done!
I truly hope that music on 2011 onwards takes a turn for the better. Sure, there's some jewels still, but so much "muck". When I chart the newest stuff, I wonder if it's the people on crack or the author of the charts lmao.
As always, we're doing a fantastic thing here and having the UK here as well is just amazing! I wonder if we could get Jordan in here to conquer Australia?

Re: 60's or 00+
In the UK, we tend to consider the decade started with 2010 (just as the Millennium started in 2000), and the 60's started in 1960 etc
I imagine Jordan has better things to do with his time. Besides, let's not overcook the pudding.
I find there are plenty of gems around these days, although it can be frustrating that they don't seem to sell as well as some absolute dross.

Well charted! If I wasn't an ocean's length, I'd shake your hand. I would have killed to have these charts in the 90's when I was constantly seeking good imported music. While the US was drooling over Michael Bolton "ugh", I was buying Right Said Fred. I knew what singles were #1 by you, but never could track down a whole top 40. So far every song I loved in the 90's. I have seen in your Top 40. Depeche Mode, New Order, Lightning Seeds ... just to name a slight few .... fantastic stuff!
Re: 60's or 00+
Heh, I've bought a couple of Right Said Fred albums, too, admittedly years after the event when I had some money. A much-maligned band, their first album in particular is probably one of my all-time favourites, were I bored enough to compose such a list.
Anyway, should also finish 1962 in a day or so, so although still years behind, I'm doing my best. I've noticed little touches where you're listing stuff about artists and their futures, which IMO is a nice enhancing touch

Ouch ... best of luck on that one. Hope you get those issues dealt with. Ofcourse, there is no obligaton nor rush doing any charting. Still, it's such a nice treat to compare charts and appreciate all you've been doing. Peace~

Finished 1963 & 2001 yesterday, so I've got 1964-79 and 2002-8 still to complete. Doesn't sound too bad put like that... although compared to Adric's 1972-9

It certainly bares repeating what a fantastic job you've done on charting. Upon starting this board I never expected that you would come in and supply chart buffs with over half a century of terrific UK charts. I wouldn't begin to know how to get my hands on those charts and "impressed" doesn't seem to cover how thrilled I am by the work you've put into this.

Re: 60's or 00+
I kid myself that any pizzazz I have brought to the place has simply inspired you to get even better, which is why your own stuff is also so very good.
Anyway, before we get carried away with back-slapping
Though I did get a nice comment about this place yesterday, which made it all feel a bit more worthwhile

Going to congratulate Al who's either just finishing off 1979 right now, or is likely to any minute
I'm still a fair way behind, though at least 1966-79 and 2006-8 don't seem quite as terminal a stretch.

Many thanks! Yes, I've just finished up every chart. Still a bunch of tweeking to do and lots of odds & ends to come. The hardest bit is certainly out of the way ... unless I decaide to go back to 1945 and work upwards....

Beautiful! Yes, the late 60's (atleast for me) made me look forward to the next chart. 70's UK is going to be a riot, I just know

Re: 60's or 00+
Hey, I still like that pic!
Anywho, I'm working on a side project. 1955-1958 are complicated charts to the average surfer. I'm working on a total revamp of sorts, though not sure what to do with it yet. I'm definately making the early days easier on the eyes and brain.
I may just keep this as a secondary and replace the 55-58 yrs. when it's complete. Then again, when the HOT 100 takes control in 58, I could just do the whole 100!
Either way ... have a look. http://thetop40.forumotion.com/
BTW ... I'm adding PICS! YES! See the earliest charts possible! 3 per chart. As I add them to the side forum, I also bring them here. Happy Bunny Day~

Ta-Dah! Finished! Well, my bit, anyway. I just about managed to complete within a year of Al finishing 1979, about which I am quite pleased.
