Liam Gallagher has announced that Beady Eye, his post-Oasis project who knocked out 2 albums in 3 years, have come to the end. Noel's got a new album coming in the next few months, I think.

Robbie Williams returned to the area he was brought up to perform a special "homecoming" gig which went down well.

And also in special gig news, Liam Gallagher marked the release of his latest album by playing Knebworth, the scene of one of Oasis' greatest triumphs. Things went so well and busy that the nearby motorway became used as a stopping-off/picking-up point, to the consternation of the police.

Oasis are a band I've been toying with a thread on for a while. Noel and Liam Gallagher were the nucleus of this Mancunian rock band who broke through in the UK in 1994, and delivered 7 albums before an acrimonious split in 2009, after which Liam led Beady Eye and then made solo records, whilst Noel fronted the High Flying Birds. But today, the hatchet was buried, and a reformation tour was announced for 2025. So, here's a few of theirs to consider:

Digsy's Dinner (Oasis)

Gas Panic! (Oasis)

The Importance of Being Idle (Oasis)

Flick of the Finger (Beady Eye)

Beautiful World (Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds)

I was quite sure they'd never do it, so fair play I was wrong  jocolor

Oasis: 10 Years of Noise and Confusion - Concert
From Barrowlands, Glasgow, in 2001, this was an entertaining show enlivened by the appearance of Johnny Marr to help out on Champagne Supernova and the encore of I Am The Walrus. The inclusions of Fade Away and Slide Away were interesting compared to the more obvious remainder.

Heyday TV: Music In Review - Oasis
In fact, pretty much the story of 'Definitely Maybe', as they progressed through 4 singles, wowed the crowds at Glastonbury, and provided infinite media copy because of their attitudes, and brotherly tension. Mary Anne Hobbs presented, many familiar faces from these shows sang their praises.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds @ T in the Park 2015
Noel delivered a lengthy show mixing stuff from his first 2 solo albums, and assorted Oasis numbers. I wouldn't expect any sort of Oasis reunion any time soon, he doesn't need to.

Hurricane Festival 2015: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
The redoubtable Noel delivered material from his sophomore album more than his first, and played in some old Oasis numbers towards the end, including the under-rated Digsy's Dinner.

Tickets went on sale over the weekend, which has caused some concern over "dynamic" pricing, and also the serious prospect that they'll never make it to the gigs together anyway.

The Great Songwriters: Noel Gallagher
There was a mysterious acoustic guitar in his house, and the rest was history. Once he wrote Live Forever, he realised how bad his previous songs had been. He was surprised that Don't Look Back In Anger has taken on a life of its own, particularly in relation to the Manchester Arena attacks back in May.  He's worked with David Holmes on his latest album (#1 this very week [in 2017]), and Holmes kept pushing him to come up with something new and different, for which Noel was eventually grateful. He considers himself among the dwindling band of proper songwriters left (Paul Weller, Johnny Marr and Paul McCartney included). He's always good thoughtful copy.

Live From The McKittrick Hotel - Liam Gallagher
A good hour in Manhattan, mixing his new material with oldies from Oasis. The division of songs associated with his vocals and Noel's puts me in mind of Pink Floyd.

Supersonic
Major re-telling of the Oasis story, from origins to the Knebworth gigs, all told in audios, and with archive clips, of which there was an awful lot. Debbie Turner is the unsung hero who helped blag them a gig in Glasgow, where they were spotted and signed by Alan McGee. The downsides, such as drugs in America, line-up troubles in the ranks, and Noel walking out briefly after a calamitous gig in Los Angeles, were refreshingly relayed for once. Reformation remains unlikely [in 2018].

The Biggest Weekend: Liam Gallagher
Saturday night headliner in Coventry, he spent his between-song banter on football, but he mixed his own songs with a good batch of Oasis ones, particularly from this 1st album. Seemed in good mood, even if the weather perhaps let things down.

Isle of Wight Festival: Liam Gallagher
He did a good few Oasis numbers, and his own solo ones, then got a bit shirty at having to give way to Depeche Mode.

Oasis - Live By The Sea
Live gig fro Southend Cliffs Pavilion in April 1995, with the original line-up still in place, and the 1st album forming the bulk of the set, before an encore cover of I Am The Walrus, sung as if memorised by a machine.

Isle of Wight Festival 2019: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
He headlined and delivered a good blend of his own HFB stuff and Oasis too. He's into 4th album territory, and looking good on it. He finished with a version of All You Need Is Love.

Reel Stories: Noel Gallagher
Dermot O'Leary talks through a familiar story with an enthusiastic Noel, happily. He misses the TOTP days, the changes from a humble start to superstardom. How he had to wear glasses so often to cover for injuries or black eyes. The triumph of the Maine Road gigs. Regrets about Be Here Now. Getting lost on drugs & drink. How Oasis might have still been around if he hadn't left when he did. Getting encouraged by his wife. Not one for vocal warm-ups. Reflecting on the Manchester attacks in 2017 and the usage of Don't Look Back in Anger.

Glastonbury 2019: Courteeners / Liam Gallagher
The former are a band from Manchester whose songs are OK without ever causing any waves. The latter is the guy who killed Oasis, who has a 2nd solo album due in September [2019], and did a good few Oasis numbers here.

Liam vs Noel - Brothers at War
Another new look at the lifelong musical feud. They didn't always get on in Oasis, but 10 years ago they finally split after Liam went too far and Noel decided to do something else with his life. All agree that if Noel had stuck out the last 2 gigs on that tour, Oasis would have stayed together. But they didn't, and despite Liam's eagerness to reform, the ball's in Noel's court where it will remain.

MTV Unplugged: Liam Gallagher
He's got his 2nd solo album out [in 2019], and here at Hull City Hall, he sang new songs, and old Oasis numbers. Bonehead was there on guitar, a nice touch of nostalgia.

As It Was
Liam Gallagher's 2010's - the end of Oasis, the failure of Beady Eye, the resurrection as a solo artist. He's got cred going for him from certain quarters, and Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs was his only past collaborator present to talk about him.

Return to Rockfield Studios
Noel Gallagher helps mark the 25th anniversary of Oasis' sophomore success What's the Story (Morning Glory?), by going back to the place it was recorded. They booked for 6 weeks, took just 3, including a week's break after an argument. Just 12 working days taken altogether, even though Noel admits they were "the most unprofessional outfit since New Order". He was flattered to find the album still held up, and could recall so many details. He summarised what followed as "then the money came in and all hell broke loose".  Shocked

Oasis: (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - Track by Track
Noel again, quite glad of what the band achieved, even the less remembered tracks like Hey Now had something he liked or was impressed about. 22 million sales can't be wrong, perhaps. Even mentions of a few b-sides recorded around the time in the sessions too.

Later w/Jools Holland - Noel Gallagher
A rapid return for this series, and Noel pushing his imminent compilation of ten years of the High Flying Birds project, and several worthy bits and bobs. He's mates with Matt Smith, who appears in his new video for We're On Our Way Now. There were mentions of Paul Weller and Tom Hanks too.

Noel Gallagher - Out of the Now
Part-chat, part-performance, he's got a new compilation [in 2021] from his first 10 years leading the High Flying Birds, and was in good form.

Reading & Leeds 2021 - Liam Gallagher
The loudmouth Oasis frontman did a good few numbers of his old band, as well from his more recent solo works. He dedicated Live Forever to Charlie Watts.

Isle of Wight Festival 2021: Liam Gallagher
A lengthy showcase,as well-tempered as usual, with plenty of Oasis favourites like Hello and Stand By Me, and especially Acquiesce, which he exhorts the audience to join in the chorus of.

TRNSMT: Primal Scream / Liam Gallagher
Again, the more interesting offerings were from people I've not come across before, like The Murder Capital, and Lucia and the Best Boys. Even the lesser-seen Declan Welsh and the Decadent West were worth a look.

Top of the Pops: Oasis
One of a number of repeats, this a compilation from 1998 ranging from their debut with Shakermaker through to a double-header 2 years later with Don't Look Back In Anger and their cover of Cum On Feel The Noize.

Later presents... Oasis
An hour from 2000 as they were pushing their 4th album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, from which several tracks were done here. But also plenty from the first three albums, and ended with a cover of My Generation.

Oasis - "Right Here Right Now"
A short effort from 1997 as they pushed their fateful third album Be Here Now. Liam and Noel did almost all the talking, with Bonehead and Guigsy getting about one line each. There was also plenty of performance stuff from the album.

Liam Gallagher - 48 Hours at Rockford
He's got a new album out, and took his sons Gene and Lennon to an old stomping ground as he got in some band rehearsals for a summer of promotion and festivals. Some of the new songs sounded good. He threw in oldies like D'You Know What I Mean? and Supersonic.

Glastonbury 2022: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
He was on Saturday night before Paul McCartney, and seemed in good spirit. He made playful reference to "the bucket hats" when bringing up Oasis material. He plugged that he'd have a new album out in 2023, and afterward chatted to Jo Whiley about how he was staying on to see some acts, naming Jamie T, and the Pet Shop Boys.

Liam Gallagher: Live at Knebworth '22
As Oasis did big gigs there, so now Liam did. He mixed his own solo stuff with classic Oasis numbers, including an encore of Champagne Supernova which featured Stone Roses guitarist John Squire.

Oasis - Live at Wembley
Despite being billed as from their last tour in 2009, this turned out to be from 2000 which would explain the emphasis on the then-current Standing on the Shoulders of Giants album. Both Liam and Noel seemed in spiky form.

Reading & Leeds '24 - Liam Gallagher
He headlined the Sunday night, just a few days before the big reunion was announced, and he did an entire Oasis-related set.
