He went to the Moody Theater in 2017, and was so largely plugging his "Divide" album. His brother's a classical composer, apparently. 

The Official Charts Company also labelled him their "artist of the decade" in terms of singles and albums success.

But the absence of a sticker means his record company think it might be counterfeit, not least as Ed seems very keen to keep the album's release to himself.

It made £50k! 

He's on the comeback trail of a sort. He's sponsoring a soccer team for next season. Also, his infant daughter doesn't respond well to some of the new material he's working on, though she does like Shape of You apparently.

He played at Snape Maltings, in Suffolk, and ran through what turned out to be a shorter set than I expected, even with a chat to presenter Jordan North.

It stayed 11 weeks on top, but has now been replaced by Shivers, which becomes his 9th #1 single.

The album, due at the end of next month, is to be called = and not - alas. They could have used "Take" instead of Subtract or Minus, but hey, maybe next time?

He picked tracks from KT Tunstall, who popularised the Pedal Board before he did, Seasick Steve, a similar one-man show, Skepta, he being a hip-hop fan, and Bon Iver, who he knew from festivals. He spoke a lot about his musical journey, since this show allows for that sort of chat.

The album is pretty likely to be #1 on Friday, and Overpass Graffiti might restore him to #1 in the Singles chart too.

Adele held off his challenge, and Overpass Graffiti only made #4. = on the other hand went to #1 by a massive margin.

His Christmassy collaboration with old mucker Elton John gives him a 10th UK #1 single, though supposedly both of them endorse the imminent LadBaby Christmas #1 effort which will be based on this very song.

Ed did three spots of note in a recent appearance. First, surprising some awful kid doing a version of "Thinking Out Loud". Then performing "Shape Of You". Then doing a small chat about his year off without phone (Ellen desperately pleading with her audience not to copy this because her show relies on them), how he injured his foot in Iceland, and delaying the album from last November. So, worth checking out.

Back after 4 years, he first appeared in 2012, where clips show he looked older. His child  is 15 months old now, and he feels an extra purpose from fatherhood. He got a Grammy nomination for Bad Habits (just the one apparently). The new album has been streamed a billion times, and represents a 4 year project. He didn't like being in videos at first, but is more accepting of it now. His Christmas video with Elton John shows off his pale legs.  He performed Shivers too.

Ed was among the many musical guests here, amusingly getting to do a duet with Joy Crookes which she wasn't expecting, and given away the game about the "live" nature of the show by referring to his beloved Ipswich Town losing to Barrow. Gregory Porter, Lulu, Rag N Bone Man, Yola, the perennial Ruby Turner, and comedian Vic Reeves were some of the other guests.

Concert for Ukraine
A curious effort, with acts ranging from Snow Patrol and Tom Odell, to a former Ukrainian winner of EuroVision, to Manic Street Preachers and Gregory Porter. Ed was able to sing Perfect and Bad Habits (!) and then join Camila Cabello on their current single Bam Bam, after she had covered Fix You. Nile Rodgers & Chic rounded the show off after it ran over time.

He's won a court case which suggested that "Shape of You" was partly lifted from somebody less famous' song, or at least the "oh why" refrain.

He was named as the most streamed artist of 2021.

He's also appeared at a memorial for the late producer Jamal Edwards, crediting him with providing a crucial break-through without which he might well not have made it big.

To return to the OP, Ed is going to have to go back to court over "Thinking Out Loud".

In happier news, his new track Celestial went in at #6 last week in the UK.

Another of these round-ups, covering his stuff from 2010 onwards. A couple of rare extra bits, like a version of All Along the Watchtower (or rather, featuring on Devlin's version). A live chat with Taylor Swift emphasised their then-strong bond.

Ed marked the anniversary of the death of his friend and mentor Jamal Edwards with a new track, F64, which this week entered the UK singles chart at 50.

He's reported to have suffered with depression in the past year, partly after the death of Jamal Edwards, and also after his wife was diagnosed with a tumour 

His new album, inevitably to be called Subtract, is due out in a few weeks.

He's gone further and talked of feeling suicidal during the last 12 months too.

He's started on his UK tour this week, and new material seems inevitable.

Eyes Closed has entered the UK singles chart at #1, ending Miley Cyrus' 10-week run. It's his 14th #1, moving him into a tie for 3rd overall with Cliff Richard and Westlife.

He won his case on Thursday, ready for the release of new album Subtract aka - on Friday, which will very likely be #1 next week.

His new album Autumn Variations went straight to #1, his latest consecutive such one, even with very little promotion compared to his recent efforts. It's his first on his own label, which might explain some of that. Though he did get 3 tracks off it into the top 100, only 1 made the #40, and that outside the top 20.
