The saga of "Soundcloud rap" as seen in the stories of Lil Peep, Juice WLRD and Xxxtentacion (ah, so that's how it was pronounced). X, as he was often affectionately termed, was a troubled soul who played a bad guy, and came to a bad end. Feuding with Drake seemed a bit of a tall order. Peep made little impression on me then or now. Juice seemed to have a lot more going for him, but mindfulness is a tougher task these days. He suggested that the 27 Club should now be the 21 Club too.

To Florida to investigate "trap" and "soundcloud", with top names like Hotboii and LPB Poody, and somewhat more affable types like Brokebaby, who got his parents to meet Louis, which perhaps wasn't the best for his cred. Glokk9 eventually gave an interview with his lawyers present. I wasn't impressed by any of them, really.

Clearly there's material in the topic of "soundcloud rap" and here was another. Jon Caramanica, erstwhile NYT journo, did a lot of the talking on behalf of the grown-ups, whilst various acts like Lil Xan and Lil Pump seemed pitiable. The xxxtentacion story came up again. Easily most interesting rapper was Bhad Bhabie, who was articulate and scornful of most of her competition.

The cases of DJ Neil Fox, broadcaster Paul Gambaccini and singing legend Sir Cliff Richard, all falsely accused during the Operation Yewtree hubbub, and all of whom were able to clear their names. Journalists covering the story give some of their side, and private footage from the time shows how Fox and Gambo, at least, felt whilst under the cosh. They're understandably all still irate.

Cardi B has also pleaded guilty in a court case as part of some kind of plea bargain to avoid a heavier sentence.

Also recently sentenced was the killer of rapper Nipsey Hussle, whose case I've discussed much earlier.
