Freddie Mercury: The Final Act
A new documentary marking the 30th anniversary of his death, effectively re-telling the last 10 years from the angle of the rise of AIDS (so, other sufferers or friends of the same, or doctors etc). Freddie's sister Kashmira seemed a new face among familiar faves like Peter Freestone or David Wigg. His death comes around 50 minutes into a 90 minute doc, and the rest is pretty much on the tribute concert the following spring (Lisa Stansfield, Paul Young and Roger Daltrey had a range of views). George Michael rehearsed over and over to get his Somebody To Love right, and it showed. Though treatments have improved since, the battle is far from over.

Queen are back, inasmuch as they've released a "lost" track Face It Alone, from the sessions that brought us The Miracle, and thus featuring the original band members on it.

Queen Under Review - 1946-1991 : The Freddie Mercury Story
Mostly the usual stuff, though the inclusion of two tribute acts offered a somewhat fresh take. Otherwise it was familiar faces like Mick Wall, Jerry Ewing, Malcolm Dome and more. With some archive of Freddie himself.

Brian May was awarded a KBE in the New Year's Honours List, thus becoming the latest rock star to be able to use the appellation "Sir" in front of his name in future.

Freddie Mercury - Magic Remixed
From 2006, marking 15 years since Freddie's death, and including Robbie Williams and McFly among its contributors, though his sister Kashmira seemed the more interesting for being less a regular on these shows. Jim Hutton and Montserrat Caballe were both present, and even a tribute act.
Queen and Bejart: Ballet for Life
A newer story, how Maurice Bejart was inspired by the Montreux statue of Freddie (and his career) to create a ballet to commemorate his life (and that of one of his troupe, Jorge Donn, who'd also died of AIDS). They used a mix of Queen songs to create a new story. At the show's premiere, Elton John performed with the three surviving Queen members on The Show Must Go On, which ironically turned out to be John Deacon's last gig, as he felt he couldn't do any more. And hasn't. Though the ballet, apparently, still does go on.

Re: The majestic Queen
News of a big auction last week, as Mary Austin, Freddie's long-term pal, to whom he left their London home, plans to sell off a lot of his personal effects:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-65375583
There was another story that some of his costumes were sold off (likely in a separate event), where some stage shorts went for the highest money.

More auction news this week, as many items of Freddie's were sold off:

His piano fetching over £1.5m was the headline result

Queen + Adam Lambert - Summer Sonic: Live in Tokyo
I've noted before about this phase of their life, but this was a lively enough show, with Brian singing Teo Torriate, Roger doing These are the Days of our Lives, and Adam doing some deep dive choices like In The Lap Of The Gods.
An hour on the many items of art and paraphernalia sold on Sept 6, which raised £12.2 million overall on one night. There was so much stuff they created a special catalogue under the title "A World of his Own". Denis O'Regan, who took some photographs which illustrated the project, was at least from Freddie's side of the story, amidst many auction types.
Freddie Mercury - In His Own Words
Yet another of these generalised efforts, but still a story worth enjoying again. Nice to see the late Malcolm Dome speaking up for their early days, whilst publicist Eric Hall was at least part of the team in the 1970s. Peter Straker was a friend, Christopher Biggins was familiar with the world, and John Robins was a superfan who could cover some of the obscurer parts of the story.
