OMG lots of great memories with this chart!

Who can forget 'The Stroke" by Billy Squire? Roller skating was the thing to do back then. We used to jump every time he sang 'stroke!' with our hip tennis shoe skates on. Needless to say I endured my share of bruises.

'Give It To Me Baby' by Rick James is timeless in my opinion. Never fails to put me in a good mood.

I can remember the lyrics to most of these songs like I can remember my name!

Reading over all these charts and seeing these songs again is truly a huge walk down Musical Memory Lane!

Yes, this was a breaking point in the 80's. It started getting better and better. So glad you took notice to Rick James as this hit only spent two weeks in the 40. I also loved that song. Shame it didn't go much higher.

What a Face

Well I am just stumped that Rick James didn't chart much higher with this doozie. Surely it must have been in the top 10 in the R&B/Urban chart..Any clue Adric?

Oh yes. Give It To Me Baby spent 5 weeks at #1 on the R&B charts. Smile The song definately got some justice. I was a kid, but vaguely remember a few radio stations that wouldn't play that song. (If only they had known of today's music then lol). I think that lack of airplay somewhat affected its weak spot on the charts.

Thanks for helping me with that one. I was fairly young then myself...maybe it's just one of those songs that has stayed popular through the years(still gets played here frequently)
