It's that time yet again, as the BBC has another new list of acts whom they tip big things for over the next 12 months:

The 11 names of the longlist are:

Chappell Roan
Confidence Man

English Teacher
Ezra Collective
Good Neighbours
KNEECAP
Mk.gee
Myles Smith
Pozer

Which isn't an entirely daring list, since Roan and Smith have been 2 of the breakthrough acts of 2024, ET won the Mercury Prize a few months ago (whilst BCS were nominated), whilst EC won the Mercury Prize in 2023. In fact, the only particularly surprising names there are Doechii and mk.gee

But maybe we'll see...

The Brit Awards have announced the nominees for their Rising Star award, who are

So that's 2/3 from the Sound longlist.

Myles Smith won the RS nod.

In keeping with previous years, all these people have had success in previous years anyway (as I picked out in my OP), which surely defeats the object. Ah well, at least they're not crap, that would make it worse.
