Na Trads - An Tobar
An 8-part series fronted by Robert Robinson, linking footage from the 12 previous years from the Na Trads award ceremonies. These retrospective series have all been fascinating.

Seirm - SIAN
A female trio were the main act this time, with Grainne Brady, The Local Honeys and Dreamer's Circus making up the rest. Both the lasses from SIAN, and those in the Local Honeys got to chat about their works.

Backed by the Formative Playlist Band, whoever they are. Coig, Smith & McClennan, and Gillebride MacMillan were also included this time.

They discussed how the name came about, and other equally clunky suggestions. Also playing were The Local Honeys, Grainne Brady and Lahira.
Solas - Margaret Fay Shaw of Canna
How a trainee pianist realised she would never make it her career, and instead became an advocate for folk tunes, and spent 43 years living in Canna House on the island of Canna, befriending the locals and playing a Steinway. She died at 101, and was buried back on South Uist, where she made her breakthrough.

A pleasant end to this 2019 series, with Grainne Brady, Smith & McClennan and Lahira all returning, with Mari Kalkun also making a debut here.
Cuirm @ Celtic Connections: Duncan Chisholm
As one series ends... this was from this year, at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Duncan, a violinist, was backed by the Scottish Ensemble, as they worked through a number of pleasant melodies, intercut with Duncan chatting to presenter Joy Dunlop.

Cuirm @ Celtic Connections - The Staves
They're a trio of sisters (and they've got a new album out soon). They each got a short chat to presenter Joy Dunlop, inbetween their tunes.

Robert Burns - No Holds Bard
A tribute marking Burns Night, with Scots poet Liz Lochhead talking to various folk about his poetry, and latterly his songs, which is where Eddi Reader entered the story, as she recorded an album of his works in 2003, named Ae Fond Kiss after one of them. His songs were often adaptations which he arguably brought to wider attention than they otherwise would. He managed twice as many songs as he did poems, and he died at 37.
Cuirm @ Celtic Connections: Bard Mhealboist
A mix of acts performed works by Murdo MacFarlane, known as the Melbost Bard. Besides presenter Ceitlin Lilidh, there was also Mischa MacPherson, James Graham, Catriona Murray and Calum Alex MacMillan.

Cuirm @ Celtic Connections - Co-Sheirm
Something of a collaborative effort, I think, with Mischa MacPherson again, Darren McLean, and Karen Matheson. They did well to get as many shows as they have.

Another round-up sort of show, including Shooglenifty, Blue Rose Code, RANT ft Fiona Hunter, The Staves, Georgia Cecile, Karen Matheson and Manran. Presenter Joy Dunlop chatted to Donald Shaw, one of the organisers too.

Air Iomall - Music From The Edge
In 2018, two musicians, Joseph Peach and Charlie Grey, travelled by boat to some remote Scottish islands like St Kilda and the Flannan Isles, to create and perform new tracks, and also soak up the atmosphere. A charming and swift little journey.
Seirm: Celtic Connections - Kris Drever
Another series based on this year's event, which seems to have been held in a multitude of locations. Besides Kris Drever, there were performances from Dallahan, Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrini, and Josie Duncan. There were chats with most of these people too.

TradFest
A 6-part series from the event in January 2018 in Dublin, and featuring too many acts to list: Teada, Frankie Gavin's Toast of the 20s Show, Shelby Lynne & Alison Moorer, Martin Harley & Daniel Kimbro, Blazin' Fiddles and I Draw Slow, just to name a handful. Good series, though.

Over halfway through this series, and one that seemed a bit more together than others. Besides the main act, there was a soloist, Rachel Newton, legends Manran, and the amusingly named De Temps Antan.

Laura Marling at the 6Music Festival 2021
She got a fairly lengthy set, largely pushing material from her recent Song For Our Daughter album.

Seirm - Celtic Connections - James Grant
He was in 90s band Love and Money, and sang their big hit Hallelujah Man here gratifyingly. He was backed by the Hallelujah String Quartet into the bargain. Also on this show were Ewen Henderson, Sona Jobarteh and Mairi MacInnes.
Runrig IN City of Lights
A gig from Glasgow Barrowland in late 1989, with some interspersed chatter from various band members.

Ceol o Kylemore
A curious show from Kylemore Abbey in Connemara as an all-female line-up marked St Brigid's Eve. Moya Brennan and many others played some distinctive Irish lilts.
Seirm - Celtic Connections - Eddi Reader
She mentioned in her chat that she was marking 40 years of live performing and she managed to include Patience of Angels among some surprising other tunes. Also on this last show were Dreamers' Circus, Dallahan, Kris Drever, Molly Tuttle and Ewen Henderson.

Sruth - Innes White and Meabh Smyth
Another new series, more about certain acts' individual stories than just arbitrary performance. Smyth comes from a musical family. Duncan Chisholm did a number with one of them.

Sruth - Padraig Morrison & Megan McGinley
It's a series looking at Scottish and Irish talents, pairing them with other acts, and telling their story. Again, there was the "product of a musical family" bit.

Sruth - Niall Hanna & Brigid Campbell
More products of musical families, one of the guests brought in this time for duet purposes was Julie Fowlis. Brigid was a piper too, which made a change. There was some talk about modernising old traditions too.

Sruth - Ali Levack & Lauren O'Neill
The last of this series, which has been quite watchable, if perhaps a touch repetitive format-wise. Kim Carnie, a pal of Ali's was an interesting musical inclusion though. There was an amusing run-out for less headline instruments too, like the harp and the squeeze-box.

Music Icons: Folk Around The World
The acts here were Peter, Paul & Mary, Gordon Lightfoot and The Seekers. Nice to see all three getting some coverage for once (and probably to be never again). PPM were mainly famous for associations with Bob Dylan (through manager Albert Grossman, and covering Blowin' In The Wind). Seekers were from Australia and had big success with The Carnival Is Over.

The 2016 series being repeated now. Besides Lunasa, were Maggie MacInnes, Siobhan Miller, Baillake Sissoko & Vincent Segal, Roddy Hart and his pal Kris Kristofferson. Kris seemed in reasonable nick at this stage anyway, he did "For The Good Times" before closing the show with Roddy on "Why Me".
