Bon Jovi...
New Jersey rockers who reached the heights in the 1980s, and who continue to tour and record. Jon has dabbled in solo records and films, but his heart remains with his band. Here are a handful of their hits:
Livin' On A Prayer
Lay Your Hands On Me
Keep The Faith
Something For The Pain
Because We Can

Re: Bon Jovi...
On 4/21/84 Runaway peaked at #39 for all of 1 week lol. Easily my favorite Bon Jovi tune.
Re: Bon Jovi...
^^^Sfunny, the idea that they had any success (let alone 2 LPs) before SWW always seems a bit odd to me.
Bon Jovi - In Concert
From Jan 24, 2013, at the BBC Radio Theatre, in London. They were mainly plugging their latest album, with a scant few of their hits (including a soporific version of 'Livin' On A Prayer') and the rest being others from their last 10 years. They have had to adapt, but they just feel out of place these days. Nice show, though, let's be fair.
Bon Jovi: Live From London
Wembley in 1995 in fact, from their "These Days" tour. There remains something a bit naff about JBJ and Richie Sambora's self-adulation, and whilst they have plenty of good songs, something always feels amiss. To their credit, they paid some lip service by bleeding I'll Sleep When I'm Dead into Papa Was A Rolling Stone, and then crossing Bad Medicine with Lulu's 1964 classic Shout! So there it is.

Rock Milestones: Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
How the New Jersey rockers benefitted from the song-writing help of Desmond Child, to turn this 3rd album into their big break-through. I still find JBJ one of the most unintentionally funny rock figures.
Bon Jovi: In Performance
Many of the usual crowd looking over their successes in the 1980's. and changes made in the 1990's. The key problem to ask about them is what is the point? Inadequate Springsteen homages aren't enough.

Bon Jovi - Hits & Legends
A performance clips show, worth it for seeing them from Farm Aid (and Farm Aid II!), doing a surprising cover of Suspicious Minds as well as their more usual fare.

Re: Bon Jovi...
They seem to have a new album coming soon, possibly called, wait for it, 2020. Jon himself also got some publicity by re-recording one of his tunes along with the Invictus Choir and soon-to-be-no-longer-Prince Harry too.

This album got delayed, unsurprisingly, but should finally be out Friday, with 2 tracks which Jon has managed to write since the delay.misery guts wrote:They seem to have a new album coming soon, possibly called, wait for it, 2020. Bon Jovi - Video Killed The Radio Star
Director Wayne Isham and Richie Sambora separately discussed various videos, mainly their 80s heyday stuff. A lot of them were concert/gig efforts.

Re: Bon Jovi...
Original member Alec John Such has died at 70. He left back in 1994, so was present during the peak years of the band. RIPĀ

Re: Bon Jovi...
After the unlucky timing of their previous album, it sounds like they're back soon. Jon had major vocal surgery a couple of years back (which news seems to have slipped me by when it happened), but with support from Bruce Springsteen, it sounds like his recovery is gone well enough for recording and touring.

Re: Bon Jovi...
Their new album Forever is out on Friday. They've had a single out, Legendary, which topped the Heritage chart, for what that's worth. Also, Jon's son has married actress Millie Bobby Brown too.

Re: Bon Jovi...
Bon Jovi at the BBC
A fairly decent round-up of material from their career with some extra magazine clips, as well as some less familiar tunes (and Jon's solo hit Blaze of Glory). Oddly nothing from the 2013 concert mentioned above (and which was repeated alongside this).
Reel Stories: Jon Bon Jovi
Dermot O'Leary talked Jon through clips from the last 40-50 years (the band marking 40 years with the new album). Jon's face lit up to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, a New Jersey band who inspired him far more than Bruce Springsteen. Also an early pre-band clip from UHF with a backing band called the Wild Ones. Jon talked about how their 3rd album made them a global success, and later how moved he was to play Wembley, given its association with Live Aid and other rock history. The band ended the 1980s burned out by touring, but his solo work on Young Guns II restored his mojo, and when the band reconvened for Keep The Faith, he had a new confidence (as well as new management and stuff). He was sad that Richie left in 2013, and rueful about his vocal chord problems. He was proud of making the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as he'd been waiting 9 years from their initial qualification. The new album closed things out, but he doesn't feel fit to tour yet.
