Sound of 2015
Yes, it's already time for the long-list of the UK's annual look at the big new names tipped for the top in the next 12 months:
James Bay is getting other publicity, Rae Morris has already had half a hit, IIRC, and Y&Y did the wonderful "Sunlight" with The Magician. So it'll be interesting to see how this list pans out when the final 5 are announced. The Sound Of 2015 long list in alphabetical order:
George The Poet
James Bay
Kwabs
Låpsley
Novelist
Rae Morris
Raury
Shamir
Shura
Slaves
SOAK
Stormzy
Sunset Sons
Wolf Alice
Years & Years

James Bay has been named as the winner of the Critic's Choice at the forthcoming 2015 Brit Awards
Another bland choice?

Re: Sound of 2015
Years & Years were announced as the winners of this contest.
The soulful electronic pop band topped the list of ones to watch this year, ahead of James Bay, Stormzy, Raury and George The Poet who landed in the top five.

Re: Sound of 2015
Years & Years scored their first #1 single last week by knocking Ellie Goulding's FSOG tie-in off the top.
Other acts on the list have been pretty quiet, or met with rather less success. James Bay has one of those "hang around for ages for no apparent reason" hits on his hands.

Re: Sound of 2015
Doesn't seem that distinguished a list for success so far. Rae Morris has managed a couple of good tunes, though, and Slaves' 1st album entered the top 10 last week, after a run of increasingly silly/great singles like "Feed the Mantaray" and "Cheer up London"

A good year to see the return of Janet! Hear Janet Jackson’s New Single ‘No Sleeep’, Her First New Song in 7 Years
Janet Jackson is officially back with the first single No Sleeep from her first upcoming album in seven years due this fall.
Produced by longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, No Sleeep is a noticeable departure from today’s radio hits. It’s sexy, slinky and quintessential throwback Janet.

Re: Sound of 2015
Call me negative, but the world needs a Janet Jackson comeback like it needs a Richard Nixon comeback

Re: Sound of 2015
Years & Years, and James Bay, have proven the most successful so far, with Slaves, Stormzy and Rae Morris rounding out quite a meagre list.

Re: Sound of 2015
Stormzy got a bit of a coup in out-selling this year's X Factor winner during Christmas week. Otherwise, as above, Years & Years, James Bay and Slaves were the big winners from this list.
