Re: Coldplay...
The album has been out this week, and I would assume it will be announced as being #1 in a few hours.
They've made news by announcing plans to not tour the album, over climate change concerns. Which is plausible, if still incredulous.
They did play a gig at the Natural History Museum in London, though. And premiered the album with a couple of shows in Amman, Jordan.

Re: Coldplay...
Didn't stay #1 for long, though.
Coldplay - Live on Radio 1
Annie Mac introduced quite a short-ish set from Maida Vale, with a few tracks from the new album, an oldie and an odd choice of cover (Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee)), and musical assistance from Femi Kuti.

Ellen - Chris Martin & Jonny Buckland
They plugged the new album and how they're not promoting it with a tour. They subbed for Miley Cyrus at some show, and covered Party in the USA in the process. There was a clip from 1998 with Chris predicting they'd have made it within 4 years. His daughter works in a clothes shop. They played Cry Cry Cry, and the following show had them performing Orphans as well.

Managed to cop a copy of that recent album.
Isle of Wight Festival 2006: Coldplay
An unremarkable burst of familiar hits from their first 2-3 albums.

Quite good. Also got the Kaleidoscope EP, which was less good.misery guts wrote:Managed to cop a copy of that recent album.
Coldplay at the BBC
Repeat of an outdoors gig from 2008, which IIRC was one of a series (U2 did one) done in front of BBC TV Centre. They were plugging the Viva La Vida etc album, and did some chatter with Jo Whiley inbetween numbers from their first 4 albums. Both Ricky Gervais and Jay Z could be seen in the audience bobbing along to the tunes.

Live 2003
A DVD that accompanied the CD in some versions. Early days of course. Done at Sydney, I read. The Tour Diary extra was also a curiosity.
Live 2012
Same idea, but many years and albums down the road. Recorded in several locations, including Paris. Their stage craft has maybe improved as their songs give them a wider set to work with.

The South Bank Show Originals: Coldplay
Mel met the guys in 2009, so in the wake of the Viva La Vida monster. Bono and Brian Eno also chatted, Emily Eavis spoke from the modern perspective too.
Coldplay - A Head Full Of Dreams
A lengthy tribute from 2017, relating their first 20 years, with film making friend Mat Whitecross using footage from their early days and so on. X&Y was a disappointment to them because they lacked a regular collaborator of theirs.

They're on the bill, with Haim and others, at a special Glastonbury gig in May, which is being streamed as a sop to the fact that the proper festival has been cancelled once again.

They're back with a new single, Higher Power, which they did at the Brit Awards. Chris Martin, in giving interviews, has spoken of lockdown's effect on him.

Radio 1 Big Weekend - Coldplay
A lengthy set at Whitby Abbey, with chat sections to presenter DJ Greg James, and also an indoor film item with We Are KING. They opened with Higher Power, but managed many hits from across their career.

My Life on MTV - World Stage
An alternative rock band from the UK... a novel description of Coldplay, but they cropped up on the channel a lot, and paid due lip service, which shows how they played the game to win over the USA. Mostly quirkier stuff from their very early years, before they went on to win awards etc

MTV World Stage: Coldplay
From the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, sometime in 2009, and thus mainly pushing the VLV album (and if they've got a track like Lovers In Japan, then a gig in Tokyo is the right place for it).

Re: Coldplay...
Just 2 years after their last, new album Music of the Spheres has gone straight to #1, giving them 9 out of 9 so far.
They've also announced plans for a "green" world tour, which given their posturing about not touring in 2019 (which would have been moot thanks to the pandemic anyway) will at least get them more coverage now.

BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge - Coldplay
A short set that included My Universe and Human Heart, from the album, an oldie in The Scientist, and an obligatory cover, this time Just For Me.

BBC Radio 2 In Concert - Coldplay
Jo Whiley introduced them, and Chris later dedicated Yellow to her for her long-standing support. They did new material from the album, but mainly a lot of old classics. Jacob Collier supplemented some of We Are KING on their bash at Human Heart.

Coldplay - Behind The Beat
A somewhat unauthorized effort from 2003, and thus considering their origins and first two albums. Some rather vague contributions, with archive of Chris generally.

In fact the whole band were there to do My Universe, but Chris chatted separately, marking Ellen's birthday (Courtney Cox was also a guest the same day). There was a clip from 2006 when Chris met Ellen at the Grammys. He mentioned meeting Psy, and how his kids are unsure about his band. He repeated a claim of only 3 more albums, up to 2025, though they'll keep touring.

Video Killed The Radio Star: Coldplay
Discussions from across their career, from early efforts like Yellow and The Scientist, through to more recent ones like Up & Up and Higher Power. Director Jonas Akerlund talked extensively about Magic.

This seemed even more unauthorised, to the point of an opening caption about it. Besides a radio DJ and a biographer, most contributors were people who'd met them at college or school, and the two guys from Low Gold, an early support act.

Coldplay: Best of the BBC
A good third longer than these format shows tend to be, and yet still I could think of stuff they could have included. A few Radio 1 chat moments broke up the performances to little effect, and a cover of Graceland came as a nice surprise.

In lieu of further new material, they're in a court case with a former manager of 17 years, where he says they owe him money, and they've counter-sued to say he wasted their money.

Perhaps new material is coming, since they've been announced as one of the main headliners for this summer's Glastonbury Festival, along with Dua Lipa and SZA
