Coldplay...
They've become one of the biggest bands in the world. Their 6th album 'Ghost Stories' will be released next month. Lead track from it is
Magic
Have to say it doesn't really compare with previous lead tracks like 'Paradise' or 'Violet Hill', or 'Yellow', or even 'In My Place'

Re: Coldplay...
Actually, it's growing on me a bit, so hey...
Coldplay: Live in Sydney
Not sure, but I suspect this was from between their 2nd & 3rd albums. Quite a good little show, although nowadays they have more material to make use of.
Coldplay - MX World Tour 2012
Chiefly footage from Paris, but also some from Montreal & Glastonbury. They got Rihanna present for 'Princess of China', which is canny cross-promotion for both acts. Anyway, a decent gig, interesting to see which oldies stay in the set and which don't.

Re: Coldplay...
^^^Unless Michael Jackson's fans have anything to say about it.
Making of Ghost Stories
A short show with Fearne Cotton interviewing the band about the new album. Apparently, they've tried to bring it back to the small-scale sound of their 1st album. Hmm...
Ghost Stories
An intimate (?) gig in the round where they performed the whole album (I assume, since there were no captions or intros), but helpfully mixed it up by also playing 'Clocks', 'Viva La Vida' and 'Paradise', too.
Their next single, at the end of June will be
A Sky Full of Stars

Re: Coldplay...
The single entered the top 20, and the album did indeed go to #1, a massive success.
Coldplay @ Radio One Big Weekend
Closing the Saturday night in Glasgow, they ran through an hour of hits from assorted albums, before an encore of 'Fix You'. The crowd seemed hottest for their opener 'Paradise', and #1 smash 'Viva La Vida'.

Re: Coldplay...
The album didn't stay #1 for long, though. Such is the modern marketplace...
How We Saw The World (Part One)
From Mar 23, 2006, at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto, they belted out the hits, particularly from their most recent 3rd album. Their encore was In My Place and the unfathomably popular Fix You. Supposedly, they wrote Til Kingdom Come for Johnny Cash. It takes all sorts, clearly. A good gig, that goes without saying.

Re: Coldplay...
They also had "True Love" as a single, with a wacky body-consciousness video.
Heyday TV: Coldplay - Music in Review
As this was from c.2005, it rather cut short its view of the band, from early days, through their (then) three albums. The usual faces were there, though DJ Mary Anne Hobbs made a surprising presenter. There was archive footage of Chris Martin from 2000. The American aspect of these shows became more obvious than usual, too. But broadly a fair-handed tribute.

They also put out "Ink" as a single, but it wasn't that good. I did get this album, and I wouldn't rate it in my top 5 of theirs
Coldplay in Concert 2014
A BBC organised show featuring a mix of oldies amongst the tracks from the newest album. There were fewer of the really golden oldies, and they ended on A Sky Full of Stars anyway.

Re: Coldplay...
Tried listening to 'Ghost Stories' again, and it still doesn't do much for me.
Coldplay - Longevity
A pretty steady look through their progress from albums 1-4. There seemed as much interest in how close they apparently kept coming to breaking up, as to how many Grammys they won for certain albums. Then there was the plagiarism accusations put forward by Joe Satriani and Yusuf "not Cat Stevens" Islam, both about Viva La Vida, and both settled amicably.

Today announced details for their new 7th album, "A Head Full of Dreams", out in December. The lead single from it will be "Adventure of a Lifetime". Supposedly there's talk of this album marking some sort of closure.

Coldplay to headline Super Bowl halftime show
Coldplay to headline Super Bowl halftime show
"We are so excited and honored and thrilled to be playing the halftime show," band front man Chris Martin said in a video. "It's going to be wonderful and hope we see you there."
The NFL said the Super Bowl 50 halftime show is still being planned and there will be multiple acts.
According to a press release from Pepsi, which sponsors the halftime show, Martin "is designing a show that will echo elements of the NFL's On the Fifty campaign -- honoring the past, recognizing the present and looking ahead to the next 50 years, including other special artists."

Their Superbowl performance was augmented by Beyoncé Knowles and Bruno Mars, and I gather was widely felt to have been overshadowed by said guests.

Re: Coldplay...
On the other hand, interest from the show meant their album moved up to #1 in the UK this week for the first time, Adele having stopped that happening when it was released.
Discovering: Coldplay
A fairly ordinary run-through of the band who divide critics who find them life-affirming or unremarkable. Travis got credit for inspiring their sound, though they turned their sound to achieve big success in the USA and beyond, as they went on. Brian Eno helped adjust their sound and potential. Their live shows reflect their growing status as a major band.

Another single out, a month to Glastonbury, another wacky video:
Up & Up
Apparently features guitar work from Noel Gallagher, who I believe has been scornful of Coldplay in the past.

A steady hour, including a short cover of Raspberry Beret by way of tribute to Prince, and finishing on recent single Up & Up.

Headlining on Sunday night on the Pyramid Stage, and semi-officially bringing the curtain down, they delivered a lengthy set with a tribute to the late Viola Beach, and an encore which brought on Barry Gibb for a couple of Bee Gees numbers. The finale involved concert organising overlord Michael Eavis himself performing "My Way" with the band as backing. One of many surprises. And a pretty good show with material from across their career.

Coldplay debuted a new single, a collaboration with flavours-of-the-month Chainsmokers, at the Brit Awards:
Something Just Like This
Coldplay: Official Top 10
This 2016 rundown shows well the inclusion of downloads in skewing what counts as "sales:
10 - Magic
09 - The Scientist
08 - Princess of China
07 - Yellow
06 - A Sky Full of Stars
05 - Adventure of a Lifetime
04 - Hymn for the Weekend
03 - Fix You
02 - Viva la Vida
01 - Paradise

Re: Coldplay...
Something Just Like This seems to have been one of their more successful hits.
I managed to get their "A Head Full of Dreams" album lately, which was nice.
One Love Manchester
A colossal cheat to put this here, but there we go. Ariana Grande apparently helped organise this 3 hour tribute concert on Sunday night at Old Trafford, which featured Take That!, Robbie Williams, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Ari herself and surprise headliner Liam Gallagher. There were some quirky collaborations between acts, such as Chris Martin helping Liam on Live Forever. I'm still not convinced that One Last Time is entirely the best message, but at least Don't Look Back In Anger makes sense. In a sense, it was a young person's version of a charity concert, and none the worse for that.

Coldplay - Live in Sao Paulo
The last show of their tour plugging their Head Full of Dreams album, from November 2017. A lack of captions was a shame, but the tracks were at least listed at the end. They included a song especially written for the crowd, Paulistanos, and closed with Up & Up.

Re: Coldplay...
Lead single from the album appears to be
Orphans
Got It Covered
Actor Shaun Dooley decided a good way to fund-raise for the charity Children In Need would be to get together 9 other actors to record cover versions at Abbey Road of appropriate songs which meant a lot to them. He for example did a Taylor Swift song, and via the connections of another member of the project, Olivia Colman, Taylor dropped in on the studio whilst Shaun was running through a take. Oh my sides. He also got the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band on his track too.
Notable among others (Helena Bonham Carter, David Tennant, Jim Broadbent) was Jodie Whittaker, who chose Coldplay's "Yellow" partly because she was a big fan, and partly to reflect her nephew, who died. During rehearsals, she was surprised by Jonny and Guy from the band, who helped with her track (she clearly broke into tears when singing at Abbey Road and thinking what it meant to her).
The album was released last week, and was set to make #1, but the OCC decided at the 11th hour that it was a compilation, and moved it to a different chart, even though it's no more a compilation than Ed Sheeran's recent collaborations album to name but one glaring example.
