Andre Rieu - Christmas in London
Presumably coinciding with the cancelled concerts, a series of glorified repeats, meshing old stories and footage to fit various themes. This opener specified the season, and how the big orchestra are one big family etc, with some nice music clips.

Andre Rieu - Magic of Maastricht
About his Vrijthof Square gigs, how he grew up in the town, and now lives there in a special castle, which he opens to fans on the afternoons of his gigs, with his son Pierre acting as guide. He also supports a charity called "Wishing Ambulance" too.

Andre Rieu - How It All Began
His early years in Maastricht, being a chorister and being kicked out for recklessness, meeting his wife Marjory when they were both students, forming his first outfit, the Salon Orchestra, and then founding the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. Hopes to go on as long as he can.

Andre Rieu - World Tour
Some of the places the JSO have been to, such as Thailand and Peru. He favours monarchies over republics. He tries to tailor some material to each country (understandable, really).

Andre Rieu - Love in Maastricht
The last of these was about there being 13 couples working in the Orchestra, many of whom spoke of how it had brought them together. Tragically, Ruud Merx was one of those included. The Platin Tenors had some coverage too, though still no word on what happened to Thomas Greuel (even Rieu's own website suggests he is still part of the group). Carmen Monarcha being lovesick for her lover back in Sao Paulo was another way of treading this theme out for the hour. Rieu says the waltz is so romantic that it was thought scandalous, until Queen Victoria said she approved of it. The rest is history.

Andre Rieu - Home For Christmas
A bit of a mix, with an outdoor concert to a small audience, then indoors in a church. The lengthy run time covered many old seasonal favourites, with soprano sections, and the Platin Tenors, and even a ballet.

Andre Rieu - Wedding Special
An hour on the fact that long-time soprano Mirusia Louwerse was getting married to Yani, a member of the Rieu security team, which gave an excuse for repeats of some of her songs from concerts over the years, making a pop video for a song that Andre's wife Marjorie wrote for the occasion, meeting Mirusia's Aussie parents who were coming to a Vrithjof concert for the first time, and cueing up that Carmen, one of the other divas, was also getting married (though mysteriously wasn't deemed worthy of her own show).

Andre Rieu - Making The Music
Like the previous wedding edition, this was part of a 2nd series of his Welcome to My World series. This edition looked at his 1st show in Bucharest, held in a big car park. There was some hi-jinks in the enormous nearby Palace built by notorious (and dead) dictator Nicolae Ceaucescu, the logistics of his enormous stages (supposedly making him the 2nd largest owner of steel in Europe), adding local touches to his shows such as a child choir and pan-pipes legend Georghe Zamfir.

Well, it's that time of year again, so...

Andre Rieu - European Dream
Visits to Prague, Budapest, Copenhagen and Krakow, finding time to discuss statues of composers, including Dvorak, life on tour buses, divas with flu, the implications of Brexit, and how orchestra members are able to bring meet their family (usually parents) when the show comes to their town (for those who aren't already Dutch).

Andre Rieu - My Musical Year
Trips to Stockholm, Maastricht (of course), Santiago and London this time. The former saw the debut of Erik, the newest Platin Tenor (though no explanation why there was a vacancy), performing in very hot conditions, using Chilean carabineri on stage, and the fun of ice skating.

Andre Rieu - Dance The Night Away
Mainly from Maastricht, this one, with the angle of dance routines, and music for dancing to. An old My Fair Lady-based routine was being dusted off after several years, but there was also a large routine involving 150 couples of all shapes and abilities, waltzing around the Vrithjof square, in connection with an official street waltz health initiative. Also present was star guest Lou Bega to do Mambo #5 and sing Tutti Frutti as well. No, really.

The Andre Rieu Story
A new and lengthy run-through of his story, improved by celebrity talking heads such as John Suchet, Alan Titchmarsh, Anton du Beke and Jane McDonald, with Pierre Rieu at least included. The financial scrapes and need to keep expanding in new markets and selling merchandise put a contrasting gloss on all the stuff about threatening the establishment.

Andre Rieu - Christmas in London 2016
A fuller version of the gig screened last year (and indeed this) with an exuberant crowd.

Andre Rieu - Falling In Love - In Maastricht
This was the one with the Lou Bega encores, and the Brexit gag and the My Fair Lady medley, plus the waltzing couples. He compared opera to Coronation Street, and did Bolero with 4 drummers. Not to mention Auld Lang Syne. So a fun old show.

Seemingly quiet, but yesterday clocked up what I suspect was a 1st UK top 40 appearance when his version of "Ode to Joy" entered at #30, in what I assume was a counter-reflection on the UK leaving the EU.

He also turned 70 back in October!

Andre Rieu - 70 Years Young
He turned 70 back on October 1st, this was a tribute crossed with a Best Of, so a chatter to the great man about his life and career, then stuff from various gigs over the years. Son Pierre helped tell the story of how their ambitious recreation of the Schonbrunn Palace proved a fiscal catastrophe. Also they spoke of Andre taking a break in 2010 for his health. But he and his orchestra have been together 32 years and probably a few more to come...

Andre Rieu - Shall We Dance?
His Masstricht summer concert from 2019, the 15th year of shows in Vrijthof Square. He was surprised by the local Mayoress unveiling a tribute plaque which will be erected in the square, marking 100 shows and so on. Otherwise it was a usual gig, enlivened by the Platin Tenors having had another line-up change, and by a closing section from the Kings of Disco, who romped through 3 Village People numbers, for those who think that Europeans live in the past. Hmm...

Talk to al Jazeera - Andre Rieu
The celebrated band-leader spoke to Step Vaessen in a modest ante-room at his gaff at Maastricht. He spoke of 7 months of cancellations, which suggests an October filming. Their last show happened in Tampa. He keeps busy making compilations for various global markets. He's optimistic about vaccine news. Being 71, he's in one risk category. He mentioned the early days of the JSO, the disastrous Schonbrunn-themed tour, being 3rd on a sales list behind Beyonce and Madonna one time. He rejected suggestions of Dutch intolerance, and mentioned the racial challenges in South Africa in 2012.

Andre Rieu - The Vrijthof
Part of a series, based around a show the JSO gave on Jul 21, 2019, which was their 100th show there, having played Maastricht for 15 years in a row. The mayor "surprised" him on stage with the unveiling of a special commemorative stone plaque thing. He talked through the rituals of the concerts, the origins from his pre-JSO outfit, talk to some of the long-standing members of the orchestra, memories of the two longest-serving members of the Platin Tenors, and so on. The Notre Dame fire had happened recently so they included a tribute in the show.

Andre Rieu - The Year The Music Stopped
Starting in February 2020 with Andre helping out a 3 day music festival in his beloved Maastricht without his orchestra. Then the start of a planned 10 day tour of the USA, where he was able to introduce an 11 year old soprano, Emanne Beasha, from some reality show to the live stage. However the interval sees then-President Trump warning about imminent lockdowns, so Andre cancels the rest of the tour (after the 2nd half of the gig) and they all go home. Clips from happier times pad out the rest of the show, besides Andre standing in the empty Vrijthof Square to note the cancellation of his summer concerts, and also his empty studio, bereft of Christmas effects or carol singers. But on the plus side, he took up baking and proved a whizz at it.

Andre Rieu and the Dutch Royal Family
Something of a revised repeat, covering a 2010 performance given in the caves of Valkenburg for then Queen Beatrix, more significantly his 2013 Amsterdam gig when the Queen abdicated on her 75th birthday in favour of her son King Willem-Alexander, and a 2022 short spot where Rieu again performed for the King and his Queen, Maxima, actually in Maastricht at last.

Andre Rieu - Classics in Colombia
Events in September 2019, the JSO's first gigs in the country, at the Movistar Arena in Bogota. There were off-stage skits where many of his orchestra visited a high viewpoint above the city (itself already at a high altitude), Andre sample some coffee, and witnessed a graffiti artist creating a picture of Andre playing his violin. The most notable gig fell on Friday the 13th when there was power troubles for an hour. But the audience stayed entertained, and a small child played a plastic flute to great response. A grateful Andre gifted the child a proper silver flute in thanks.

Andre Rieu - Happy Days Are Here Again
Back live in the summer of 2022, including a turn from a guest Ukrainian performer, and with some fresher choices perhaps referring to the world after lockdown, like I Will Survive and Live Is Life.

Andre Rieu - Together Again
From the summer of 2021, at an event with Andre and his family met up with members of his orchestra for the first time in ages, whilst there was a compilation of past successes to relive good times. So this meant past sopranos like Kimi Skota and Carmen Monarcha, but also guest turns from Georghe Zamfir, Lou Bega and Los Del Rio.

Andre Rieu - I Lost My Heart In Heidelburg
From back in 2009, a lengthy and familiar-feeling show, what with the Platin Tenors, Frank on carillion, and Carla and Mirusia among the sopranos.
misery guts wrote:Andre Rieu - Live From Dublin
From 2003, thankfully showing titles on screen for once. The local guest was John Sheehan, whose fiddle-playing fitted in well.
Andre Rieu - In Dublin
From 2022, and billed as a first recorded show in 20 years, with with no particularly extra guests, Andre made mention of how moved they were to receive letters of support during the pandemic. At one point, the audience went their own way in almost a duelling crowd-singing contest of old Irish favourites.

Andre Rieu - The Veteran's Concert
An episode about an occasion where he gave several hundred tickets to veteran's groups/charities, and then played music to suit. Maastricht was an early city to be liberated towards the end of WWII, and also his son Pierre collects and restores old war vehicles.

Andre Rieu - The King's Ball
Back to 2013, when Queen Maxima abdicated in favour of her son, and his Argentine wife. With music to suit at a special concert.
