S Club 7 are to reform for a tour this year to mark their 25th anniversary (they bloomed in the UK charts from 1999-2001), and were put together for kids drama series Miami 7 and its sequel LA 7. They've not performed together since 2015.

80s Scouse legends Frankie Goes To Hollywood reunited after several decades to appear at a show last night, part of a week-long festival marking Liverpool hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. However, to fan dismay, they only did 1 song, and that was Welcome To The Pleasure Dome.

Sum 41 have announced plans to split up after a final album and tour.
Aerosmith are also planning to call it a day, too.

Following the tragic and unexpected death of Paul, they're still going ahead with the tour, but Hannah will also be withdrawing, since she was close to Paul.misery guts wrote:S Club 7 are to reform for a tour this year to mark their 25th anniversary (they bloomed in the UK charts from 1999-2001), and were put together for kids drama series Miami 7 and its sequel LA 7. In one of the less likely bits of news I've seen lately, it seems Haircut 100 have reformed for their first tour in 40+ years, to happen this Autumn. They were a short-lived UK pop band who had one #1 album and a few hit singles like Love Plus One.

This doesn't seem to have gone too badly, as far as I can tell.misery guts wrote:British hip-hop act N-Dubz are reforming, after an 11 year break. They scored one number one in their first run, but band members like Dappy and Tulisa became more talked about outside of music.
90s girlband Eternal were set to reform, but now they aren't. Supposedly the Bennett sisters had objections to some of their proposed tour dates because of LGBTQ+ issues, and so Louise and Kelle walked out of the project.

They are gonna reform for a tour in 2024.misery guts wrote:

East 17, on the other hand, are unlikely to reform any time soon in their original line-up. Sole surviving member Terry Caldwell says none of them are in contact, even with Stay Another Day around every Christmas.
KISS seem to have ended their live touring this weekend, but seem set to continue in electronic form, akin to the ABBA Voyage shows.

Mike Nolan, one of the original members of Bucks Fizz, and also one of the surviving members of The Fizz, is leaving the band. He was lucky to survive a coach crash in late 1984, and he'll be 70 himself in December, and he's probably had enough.

Biggest Band Breakups and Makeups
Pretty much any great rock band who split or nearly did were covered here: The Police, ABBA, New Order, Simple Minds, Guns N Roses, Oasis, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Take That!, The Beatles and REM. The reasons discussed were money, respect, art & so on. An amiable if probably in-essential hour.
Where Are They Now? The Reunions
Aside from a mini-Baywatch reunion, most of this show was about re-telling the stories of bands like Musical Youth (actually quite sad), East 17 (they self-destructed but still keep trying), and Bay City Rollers (3 of whom recently reformed for some gigs). BCR seemed the more likeable of the lot of them.

American rockers Linkin Park have been on hiatus since 2017 after the death of frontman Chester Bennington. However! This week they announced plans to reform with a new singer, Emily Armstrong. Chester's son Jaime is not impressed, though:

Split Ends: Dr Feelgood
Kitty Perrin presents a 3-part series looking at the processes and reasons for bands splitting and sometimes reforming. Firstly, a 1970s pub-rock band who had a few hits, but singer Lee Brilleaux died in the 1990s. Guitar hero Wilko Johnson had severe health issues in the 2010s, and has also died. So the story came from other band members.
Split Ends: Liberty X
Early 2000s band formed from UK talent show PopStars; they were the effective 5 runner-up contestants to the 5 chosen winners. So they decided to also form a band, got backing and after a false start, and having to add the X to distinguish themselves, went on to achieve a few #1 singles and outshine their foes. However a calamitous final single prompted them to quit. The three female members now continue as the band, whilst the 2 guys do other things.
Split Ends: The Fall
Mancunian rebels led by the unique Mark E. Smith. They met Brix Start in the USA, she hit it off with Mark, and soon the Fall were on the up. But Mark's demons got stronger, and she left, though she has remained a well-balanced and admired contributor in the business.
