Doris Day's releasing a new album soon, her first in almost 20 years

I would argue in fairness that NKOTB's 'Summertime' was quite decent, certainly deserved to do slightly better business than next-to-none

I am more sceptical about DD, though. A massive stadium tour, for instance, is not likely.

Doris Day: Virgin Territory
How the big band singer turned actress, married several times, had her highs & lows in films, was stifled by a pushy husband/manager, and finally threw in the towel as an artist in 1968, making telly shows to clear the debts her late husband had saddled her with. She was close to her son, Terry, but suffered many troubles along the way, and remains out of the limelight.

She's died at the grand old age of 97. RIP   


Discovering: Doris Day
She sang, scoring a big war-time hit with Sentimental Journey. She moved into films, where she could also sing, and sometimes dance. The Deadwood Stage, Move Over Darling and Que Sera Sera were all examples of this duality.

I Don't Even Like Apple Pie... Doris Day
A repeat from 1989, as Doris chatted 1-on-1 with esteemed Christopher Frayling about her life and career. Quite a fun format, borne of respect (i.e. it wouldn't be made these days). She was going to be an ace dancer but suffered an accident in a train wreck, and turned to singing. Which led to acting, and so on.
