City of New Orleans
I was just leaving my teenage years and went to New Orleans to be a 'flower child' with the hippies in 1968/69. Many times I traveled from my home in south Mssissippi back and forth, mostly weekends on The City Of New Orleans. I KNEW the train. Even today, with Amtrak, it is still called that. In the last few years, as an entertainment journalist, I traveled my beloved train to do work with the likes of Clarence 'Frogman' Henry or Percy Sledge and Vince Vance.
Arlo Grutrie did an incredible job of his father Woody's song..............I seldom hear it now......but.........the memories when I do.
