This was the first Real Coming of Age song, I believe, for us baby boomers. We suddenly had to face th face the fact that Our Dream had faded. Buddy Holly]was gone as the song tells, but other things in our lives were. Don McClean is brilliant and the memory of hearing it one the radio almost brings a tear to my eye. Nothing was never Really, the Same.
