60's or 00+

Post  Adric on Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:17 am

As you know, I'm very nearly done with the 90's. Which decade should I do next? 70's fans, be alert as my notebooks will confuse me if I don't chart the 60's first. I'm hot with the 60's though the joint in my mouth might say otherwise. Where should I start? I prefer to stay on a chart once I start it. Do we want 60's-70's or should I venture into 2000+?

Not sure what c&p means, but I'll move on into 2000+ Very Happy Thanks. Very few members and no one ever seems to do more than look. Wish I could gain a few more members, but I suppose 2 decades isn't enough. What a Face

I thought I'd be able to C&P the recent UK ones more than I have, but I didn't start doing them until the start of 2009.

Have enjoyed doing 1960 lately, about 1 a week, just keeping with the quirk of those being the charts of half a century ago Smile

Absolutely I'm fonder of charting the 60's onwards. I wasn't born until 1971 and I really didn't even focus on music until the verrry early 80's. Ofcourse, the radio then familiarized me with the 70's through the "then" oldies. I know some 60's songs, aside from the obvious the we all know. I'm certainly no expert on the 60's, though I do admit charting / studying them says an awful lot! (In good ways)

Anywho, I just started 2009 today. I want to start fluxing between 1960 and 2009. You'll notice I did a bit of updating on 1960. Smile As you start closing in on these dates, I'll add on. As anxious as I am to get current, it's so relaxing charting the 60's.

I know I'm a wayz off, but the 70's are going to be a riot! flower

Cheers!

The fun with the 60s & 70s is following the careers of the really big names in pop & rock (not that Madonna or Michael Jackson aren't really big, I hasten to add). Going "look, Roy Orbison! The Beach Boys! The Beatles! The Stones! The Who! The Eagles! etc"

Try as I may, that is too UK for me hah. As you know, we are current! I've spent all day + some doing the 60's.

Accomplishments...
..... 1983 .... Many videos were bad by now. New links and removed some fluff. I had a boatload of new smileys but I see X's now. That's bullshyt! Will remove as I find and check vids. I'm going to change the writing into links to vids (starting with newest) soon. It's tedious that I have to keep tabs on utube, but hey. I want awesome.

Now doing 1961 onwards. Lots and lots of work to do besides charting. You should start seeing pics soon enough, rah.....

Adric

Check the latest 2010 chart. Can always start this way and work backward .... or if I have some green, I can hit it in reverse. drunken Videos under pics.

Yes, I was just feeling smug to be keeping up with you on 2009-10, and now I'm not entirely sure how I've got out of sync. It'll be right eventually, I'm not c&p all the way through.

I've enjoyed my last 2 weekends trying to push 1960 forwards. It can get a bit tedious from time to time, that's why I keep chopping about.

I know just what you mean. In the 60's so far, there's ALWAYS a Johnny or a Bobby hah. After the mid 90's it's all so and so featuring so and so. 80's were so much fun. The 60's is still in the early stages, but progressing along. 70's should be a riot!
As far as vids go, with your permission, I'll add your debuts as they score. I basically only listen to UK charts anyways..... Very Happy

If you add vids in the 1980's, that's cool since we've done those.

Yeah, I worked out the problem. All my post-1995 charts are a week out. But I'll put 'em right as I go along. Good reminder not to get too blase.

Enjoying working on with the 1960 ones. The less re-entries, the better, for me I love you

Finished 1991 the other day, having looked out my Diary to find the 'top 40 of the year' data. I also found my 1990 diary appears to have gone astray Surprised Not sure whether it had anything relevant to these charts in it, but it's probably just ended up in a different place.

Congrats! Charting in US was a bitch in the 60's and working them now. I've found every chart dating back to 1944, so look out hah! Seriously, I've burned them and will add them to the mix once 1979 in done. I'd then like to start go back over the 80's and make some minor changes as I have a routine thing going on now.

Had to DJ last night at a dance club and swiped the latest UK chart as well some from 2009. Shoulda seen the floor! Very Happy

The only change I think I've thought of wanting to make as I've gone along was some kind of recognition for records at #2. I know it's the start of a slippery slope, but when a record spends more than a month at #2 because a bigger record just won't shift off the top, then some sort of acknowledgement would be cool. But I'm not going back through 900-odd charts for the sake of it! Shocked

I find it funny with the early 60s stuff, to see acts facing the perennial problem of "50 different ways to say 'I love you'" Laughing Since I started doing the 60's stuff in the mornings, I've felt at least that it's flowing along.

Should be finishing 1999 in the next few days, which will be a small achievement, and then 1994 some time before Christmas. Since I changed to doing the 94 & 95 ones from my old diary, it's had a different feel to it, for me. Also rather stark to read what I was doing, and feeling, at the time Shocked and where I should have done things differently.

Though you mean well, if I had a life I'd likely still be charting the 80's hah. Thank you. 60's nearly done! I noticed you posted a few '69 charts (awesome!), but you gotta tell me this. Do consider that daylight savings time confuses me and I can never remember my own phone #. How in the world do you post charts without confusing dates? Surely, it must take some work to know exactly what spot to post in.
We get out charts on Thursdays while you tend to get yours on Sunday. You've got leap years and all sorts of madness. Wow at how you keep up that way. It's what prevents me from doing the 60's and 70's at the same time.

I only added those '69 ones because I did them over at DWW in Memory Lane Music a while back. Same format, just a question of C&P. There'll be the odd one from '77 & '79 also which I'll paste across before I ever get there with the normal run of things.
Wow at how you keep up that way. It's what prevents me from doing the 60's and 70's at the same time.
Well, I've got bookmarks that help. Also, doing the more recent charts from diaries is a whole lot more agreeable. That's why I don't do one after another from the same year. I've taken to doing the 60's ones in the morning, which means I'll get 6 done a week. When I've finished the later ones, I'll go back to doing more from the earliers. When I finish '94 (tomorrow, I hope), then I might do 2001, or try something else.

Don't start me on the science of Leap Years Shocked

Well, after a needed few days off, I've just added the final chart of 2010 and the HOT 100 of the year. Took me a little time to realize that a decade is now done! Very Happy I truly hope that music on 2011 onwards takes a turn for the better. Sure, there's some jewels still, but so much "muck". When I chart the newest stuff, I wonder if it's the people on crack or the author of the charts lmao.
As always, we're doing a fantastic thing here and having the UK here as well is just amazing! I wonder if we could get Jordan in here to conquer Australia? Twisted Evil

In the UK, we tend to consider the decade started with 2010 (just as the Millennium started in 2000), and the 60's started in 1960 etc

I imagine Jordan has better things to do with his time. Besides, let's not overcook the pudding.

I find there are plenty of gems around these days, although it can be frustrating that they don't seem to sell as well as some absolute dross.
